We keep an attendance register on Tuesday and Thursday half day release courses, the whole day and the CSA courses. We won’t publish this due to confidentiality issues, but it will be available for Trusts and trainers to refer to.
We record your VTS attendance on your ePortfolio.
If you find that you are not being released to attend VTS then this may be because of the workload of the job. However, there should be provision for cover within posts. You are expected to have a minimum of 70% attendance taking into account leave and cover. If you tell your team you are going to teaching and then don’t go and are found out, at best you will need to make the time up. At worst, you can be reported to the GMC for fraud!
If there is no educational session on a particular day then you will probably find yourself doing 'the day job' unless you have agreed something in advance with your supervisor.
You have a guideline amount of 30 days per year study leave - this should be discussed with your supervisors at the beginning of posts.
